
This is known as Jewels of Opar, scientific name
Talinum paniculatum. Native to western United States and Mexico, it has the potential to be invasive here.
Talinum is in the plant family Portulacaceae. The leaves are said to be edible, like the more familiar relative
Portulaca oleracea, or purslane.
